Hello, I’m Adelie. I suppose you’ve traveled to this page to learn a little more about my blog, and for that, I am genuinely grateful. Allow me to introduce myself!

This may be only my philosophy, but I think the majority of us “get it wrong” when we tell people who we are. My first impulse is to tell you I live in Michigan, where I grew up and earned my bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology. I’m somewhere between twenty and thirty years old, married to my high school sweetheart, and I’m currently employed as an administrative assistant. As you can tell, I’m a pretty exciting person.

So that’s what I consider the incorrect characterization of myself, or anyone for that matter. Who we are isn’t defined by where we live, our age, occupation, or any other category for that matter. I believe that it is a combination of our beliefs, desires, and daily actions that illustrate who we are. So let me better introduce myself!

 

Whenever I’m not working, I’m either enjoying my time reading, enjoying the outdoors (often with my husband and our dogs), or writing. While I have several passions in life, my deepest passion is writing. I never go a single day, and rarely an hour without writing, or at the very least, thinking about writing. I have already written my first book, which I am in the process of editing and revising (with sequels continuously composing themselves in my head).  My dream is to have these books published and read across the globe and adapted into film.  While my writing is for entertainment, its deeper purpose is to inspire and change the world (if even in the tiniest way). My purpose is to help create a more peaceful and loving life for all creatures, and I strive to honor my purpose daily.

I have an honest, open, and quite sensitive heart, full of aspirations that I can inspire others to pursue their passions. Although I was taught to always keep my guard up, I trust in the goodness of others and believe in the possibility of a peaceful world. My theory is that when a person’s actions are in accordance with his or her genuine heart, a wonderful transformation happens not only in the person’s life but in all of the other lives that he or she touches.  In the words of John Donne, “No man is an island.”

I’m sure some people think I’m unrealistic. By their personal standards I probably am. Ultimately, when it comes down to it, we all create our own realities. We choose how we interpret everything, both outside of ourselves and inside as well. Whether we admit it or not, we also decide how to respond to it all.

So, while I’m in the process of polishing my book (which my husband and I affectionately refer to as “my baby”),  I’ve created this blog as a more immediate creative outlet, in which I hope  to encourage others to live from their passions. A quote that really embodies my mission with Artfully Aspiring is attributed to a very inspiring man, Howard Thurman:

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

It is through writing that I feel most alive, and it is through writing that I aspire to help others live their passions. Thank you for allowing me to tell you a little more about myself, and I sincerely look forward to learning more about you along the way.
