I learned last night that my mother has fallen down the stairs and broke her spine in three places. She is still undergoing tests to check for brain damage. I’m returning home to do the best I can to take care of her. Thus, if I do find the time to return here, I may not respond to any comments. Please don’t take this as indifference to your support. I’m dealing with this the way I deal with all other things, by sealing myself off from any emotion. As a result, I wouldn’t be able to accurately express my gratitude for the kind and encouraging words you leave me,Β and I believe you deserve more than a half-hearted response from me. Β I’ll return when I’m “me” again.” I am sincerely grateful for your support.
So sorry to hear about your mother, Adelie; I do hope she heals soon, and that the news concerning the brain is good. Take as long as you need; we’ll still be here. xxx

Please do not hesitate to use my email (thequotegal@yahoo.com) and if you believe in power of prayer, I would like to start a prayer chain for her if I know her name. Or just write to me for ANYTHING else you need. I cannot express how upset I am to see this post. Big hugs Adelie.

Stephanie! I’m so sorry it has taken quite a while for me to get back to this. I was just so overwhelmed I didn’t even check WordPress for nearly two weeks. I truly appreciate your concern and support. Luckily, my mother seems to be recovering well, and she was extremely lucky to have such a fall and not be paralyzed. It definitely puts a kink in her summer plans, but we’ve been able to manage. Thank you so much again for your friendship and support. Now, I need to get on over to your blog to catch up on all of your magnificence I’ve been missing!

Hi, welcome back π It is hard to see our parents are no longer the spring chickens that they were. After losing two of my best friends (7 years apart), I realized that life is too short. I never got on with my parents in their youth as well as in my youth. But, what I know now, is that they are getting on in age and every moment with them counts – burying the hatchet, as they say here, meaning forgiving and letting the past go. You are dealing with what happened in the best way for you…. You are my friend and I will give you as much support as you need without pushing it on you. Try and resume the daily grind; it’s one of the best helps you can do for yourself. She’ll get better. Day at a time. β€

Thank you so much for the comforting and wise words, and I send my sympathy for your loss of your friends. I can imagine those were terribly difficult times. You’re absolutely right about making the most of what time we do have. Sometimes it’s really hard to embrace each moment though, like life is moving at turbo speed. But all we can do is our best, right? Thanks again for everything, Victoria! π

I still miss my friends and cry for them and it’s that what really got me to be more forgiving esp of my parents. And I totally agree with you, it is hard to stay mindful and in the moment – and to do the best we can is all that’s needed. I left you a link to a wonderful article you might find as uplifting regarding writing as I did – she’s a great source for inspiring motivation π
